And then there was Saturday...

Saturday we went over to my Uncle Martin's again after Jim had left for work because my cousin was in town with his newly born son Captain. So we had a little get together with family. Always fun times. We ended up being there well into the night. Midway through our stay I get a text from Jim, it reads : if you see anything on the news I'm okay. Ummmmmmmmm.....okay? I didn't know quite what to make of that and then I got a call from him not too long after that. He had just been involved in a shooting! But he was fine and all the other officer's were fine, but the suspect had killed himself after a shoot-out and standoff with police. He was right, it was on the news, and it has been on the news for the past couple days, but I never see it. I just watch clips online and Jim tells me what parts the news people got wrong. But anyway. So that was a first. He got three days paid leave, as is routine when you're involved in a shooting and so that has been pretty nice. He had to go to briefing and what not today, but other than that he's been able to be home the last few days! It was definitely scary and a little jolt of reality, but we knew what we were getting into and that's why we have our family prayer everyday!

It was funny though 'cause after we prayed that day I had a funny feeling about him going in and just felt that something was going to happen and I shared that with Jim after he got home and he said he had the same feeling, that after praying he felt like he was really gonna need that prayer that day! Those are the kind of moments that make your hairs stand up!!

But I'm indeed grateful for my wonderful hubby and the work that he does and the protection that he is blessed with. The guy actually had his gun pointed right at Jim and shot off two or three rounds at him. Jim was able to take cover and wasn't hurt at all.....count your blessings :)
