So before Seth left for California last Wednesday he was mucho sicko. Well he left, but his sickness didn't. Both Jim and I have been sick non-stop since then. Started off with a tickle in the throat, then some aches, and a fever, hurts to swallow...ya know all the good stuff. So we didn't do much with our weekend this last week.
But Jim had to go in early for work on Saturday for some po-po training. He had to be at the academy at 6:00 A.M. This normally wouldn't be such a hard task for my dear hubby. But since working the second shift he's turned into somewhat of a night owl. We don't usually go to bed until around 3. Friday night was no exception. We tried to go to bed early, even went into our room at nine. But the TV and laptop just wouldn't let us sleep and we ended up shutting our eyes around 2:30.
So when Jim had to wake up at a quarter to five he wasn't the most.....alert, we'll say. I don't even remember him getting out of bed. I'm dead to the world at that time of day. But then I hear this:
Um Shaye?
In that kind of voice where you just KNOW something is wrong. I turn over and Jim is standing in our hallway clutching his hand that's wrapped in a towel. Me: Yeah?
Jim: Um we might have a problem.
Me: What'd you do?
Jim: I cut my finger.
Me: Do we need to go somewhere?
Jim: Um yeah I think so.
Me: Jump outta bed, throw a tshirt and jeans on, try not to notice all the blood in the bathroom and hallway and grab a jacket for Jim and myself. Who knew it was cold in the morning? We totally miss those hours these days.
Anyway. I wasn't really much help other then moral support. Jim had to drive himself because I have still yet to master the stick shift. I helped shift. :) I did provide support in the way of signing medical papers and providing insurance information. So kudos for me.
I could tell that it was hurting Jim. He doesn't do well with his own blood. I'm actually surprised he didn't faint. He fainted once while giving his blood in our living room for life insurance. Haha. But he didn't faint this time. He said if he would've looked at the actual cut longer he may have been done for....there was A TON of blood. He cut it while trying to fix his watch with his pocket knife.
Well after about two hours of waiting we got back into a room and the doctor shot him up with some anesthetic(sp?) and stiched him closed. I watched it. It was nasty.
So now he has some stitches and can't bend his finger or use much of his left hand at all for that matter. He has had to miss work this week and won't go back 'til Saturday. So I guess it's kind of nice that we're getting the double whammy with being sick, less days to miss.
So that's us. If you need us, we'll be the ones still in our pajamas sitting in our dirty house downing medicine and waiting to feel right again. Hope to see you soon :)
